Lifting Lennox is a project comprising a small and acute intervention. A dark late 70’s brick build is offered a second life in an almost complete internal gutting, with a small extension. The brief of this project was to create an open plan and well-lit family home.
The nooks and crannies of the internal configuration combined with the low ceiling deprived the home from northern solar access. BCAtelier overcame the clients budget restrictions to replace the entire roof, by raising the ceiling. The structural solution was to modify the exiting truss system by removal of the bottom chord, and by installation of a collar tie, increasing the floor to ceiling height by over a metre.
The clients leaned towards a dark and moody selection of finishes, with deep red tones to accent the European flavour across their décor and personal art collection.
